I just started watching this, and it is a pretty good, albeit startling show to watch.

VICE

I watched one episode where this guy goes to a part of I think the middle east where there are these women called Mauritania women? Anyway, they force feed their young girls to cause them to get fat, because they believe fat is beautiful and will help them to gain marriage. They believe skinny girls/women are a sign of ill health. But what is sick about how they go about doing this is they crush these little girls feet and fingers with these wooden devices breaking their fingers and feet forcing them to intake so much food and milk that they throw up constantly. They get sick, but force them to continually eat and drink. It is really disturbing seeing a mother do this to her own child. I couldn't find the video from the show, but did find a similar video on youtube of almost the exact thing here. Youtube video

What I don't understand is it seems this culture is hell bent on hurting the women in their own culture. From female genital mutilation to brutally force feeding them till they become fat and get diabetes, and die of heart attack and stroke. If you get about half way through that youtube video you will see the mother breaking her little girls finger! It is awful, and the child cries while vomitting while being forced to drink and eat more.

What the fuck is wrong with these people? How can a mother love her child and do something so sick like this to her own kid?

Its a good show. needs to be longer though. 30 minutes and covering 2-3 topics isnt long enough. Most of the stories they have done have left me wanting more. I think if they made it an hour long show and covered a bit more it would be awesome. Still they bring ot light some things you dont think of

They say the same thing about aspects of our culture. They will justify the things you think is wrong in their culture just as you will justify the things that they think is wrong in our culture.

I just watched the first one this afternoon.
The Taliban suicide bombing kids was really interesting.
That episode might help educate a few people on how it happens.
