I'll get that too from time to time, and I figured it was mostly just the way the engine is in my '97 Dakota (3.9L V6). I don't get it often, at least not that I recall recently, but whenever it would happen, it was always kind of at a magic number. A certain speed was kind of the ceiling, and tended to felt like it may have been only after it switched into a different gear (automatic), and it would fall out and no longer happen once I continued acceleration past the particular threshold.
