VIA USB Patch Driver...purpose?

It`s not in the Via 4 in 1 drivers it only needs to be installed if you use USB hardware,the idea in theory is to improve USB stability with Via chipset based boards.
Btw the latest Via USB filter driver is version 1.08
 
i think it's only for the older SS7 VIA board tho cuz it has never done anything for me and i've owned the following VIA chipsets, KX133, KT133, now KT133A. I could be wrong, but i myself couldn't find out wtf they did. all my stuff works fine anyhow.

I gots:
1) Umax 1600U usb scanner
2) HP deskjet 842c USB
3) MS intellimouse optical usb
4) Creative Webcam3 usb

all work fine even under win2k, maybe im just lucky 🙂
 
Well I have had to use the usb filter driver for using the hp 9XX series of printers. As well as an webcam. These are on different systems. (kx133, kt133, kt133a). So I really think there is kind of smart to install those filter drivers to get the maximum compatability and stability for your usb devices on your via chipset.
