VIA Technologies will be partying at Computex 2002 with audio partners Midiman, TerraTec, ESI, and Altec Lansing, who will mix it up with VJs, sound systems and demos to promote VIA Audio solutions.

?We?re very excited to have so many partners at our booth showing the fun you can have on your computer with high quality audio,? commented Richard Brown, VIA?s director of marketing. ?We?ve got the technology that enables partners to bring entertainment and creativity for enhancing the PC experience.?

VIA Audio offers a full range of PC audio solutions that build on the very best in professional digital sound technology brought to market by ICEnsemble, purchased by VIA in 2000. In particular, the very popular Envy24 Audio Controller provides professional sound technologists and musicians with 24-bit resolution, 96kHz-sampling rates and up to 12 input and output channels.

Building on this core ICEnsemble music technology has given VIA Audio a head-start in the world of audio, boasting a customer base that includes the very best in the PC audio market, including Midiman, ESI, TerraTec and others, offering ideal solutions for studio quality performance on the PC.

?Working closely with our innovative partners at Computex is the first step in an aggressive audio strategy designed to show customers what can be done with their PCs for audio recording and playback,? commented Steve Chen, VIA Audio product manager. ?By developing leading edge products that push the edge of audio performance and establishing valued relationships with our partners, VIA Audio is driving the standard for PC sound technology.?

VIA has been in the sound chip market for some time now. They own IC Ensemble, the company that developed the Envy24 audio controller. This chip has been used in quite a few pro- and semi-pro sound cards in the last couple years, and is a good chip. I own one of these cards - the Midiman Audiophile 2496.

Expanding the number of high-quality 24/96-capable audio cards into the more affordable consumer realm is a very good thing IMHO. Finally, Creative might have some good competition and be forced to really innovate for a change...

More competition is always good, and they own IC Ensemble who has a number of extremely highly respected pro sound cards based on their chips.

Ummm, whatever!!!

Even NVIDIA's nForce needs Unified drivers in order to be properly identified:

[*]Display Driver: 28.32
[*]GART: 2.29
[*]System Memory Bus: 2.17
[*]Memory Controller: 2.26
[*]Ethernet: 2.36
[*]Audio: 2.36

VIA is no different. So you 4-in-1 bashers can go piss up a flag pole :)

You don`t need to be a brain surgeon to install VIA 4 in 1 drivers, more sound card competition is always good,we will have to wait and see how it performs so there`s no reason at the moment to give any negative comments.

Ah, finally. Creative just makes such damn buggy cards, VIA had to come on the scene with their own. Perhaps, a sound card that can peacefully coexist with 686B? :D :p :)
