VIA says no KT333A because KT333 just rocks the house hardcore

From this article it says,

<< "I'd like to emphasise that there will be no KT333a in the future," he said. "We are very proud of our tradition (of 'a' versions of VIA chipsets), but we like to do it right first time." >>

.

Any thoughts? Pabster you out there? 🙂

ROFLMAO. 😀

A parody? 😛

Nah, it won't be KT333A. It'll have a different name, same product. VIA just doesn't know how to "get it right", be it the first time or the fiftieth.

WTH?? Where have you been Pabster?? I haven't seen you stick your nose around here in GH in a long time...I was just getting used to it 😀

While the only trouble I have with my current Via board (133A) is garbled video during some cold starts (a poweroff/wait 30 sec./poweron fixes it) I can honestly say I'm not happy to see all the issues with Via chipsets. Seems new ones pop up every few weeks. So, I'm blacklisting them at least until I stop hearing about troubles.

Current SiS stuff looks OK but performance is usually behind the pack, which is fine if stability is there. Guess I'm still a bit SiShy about them. Perhaps their next chipsets will finally let 'em bust out into stardom again.

Lol, yeah, maybe VIA should gear their engineers to working out all the kinks before it's released. That would be smart.

DUH! 🙂

Actually VIA is going to keep the KT333 name for awhile and just release different steppings of it in the future. The few boards that are out now with the KT333 havethe CD stepping which is just the kt266a with ata133 support. In about a month most motherboard makers will begin releasing the KT333 boards with the CE stepping which will give an overall 5-7% performance boost.

I thing VIA is just complicating things.

LOL! I'm no VIA basher but even I find that amusing. 😉

Is quoting yourself bad form?

<< As you might expect, this isn't the first time I've had this problem with a NVIDIA card. I got a multimedia GeForce 2 MX card a few weeks back and it had the exact same problem... it would freeze up within 3 minutes of installing. I ended up returning that card for a replacment, I hope I don't have to resort to that for this card. I updated my Via drivers... is there anything else anyone can think of that might help resolve this problem? >>

From here. The problems never seem to stop.

I've been enjoying the sweet silence, raw silk speed, and clear head that Intel and SiS have provided.

LOL! You really need to get out more... 😉

Are you running your Athlon XP @ 166MHz on a KT266A mobo?Is it stable?

I have no problem with VIA chipsets, i think the KT266A is a great, solid chipset, which I haven't had *any* problems with whatsoever, and it runs incredibly stable with Windows 2k or Linux, I really like it

VIA getting it right the first time? That's not their style. KT133, then KT133A. KT266 then KT266A. Hmm; maybe they've finally tried a little harder this time. Would be nice if they could release a good, stable chipset the first time.

For the record, I am a VIA user. All the chipsets in the house (except this laptop) use VIA chipsets.
