Hi everybody, I'm going to build a budget Duron system with VIA based board, I have extra SB Live vaule I want to throw in. I was wondering has the issue between VIA KT133A chipset and SB Live been resolved with the new patches from either Creative Labs or VIA. Any experiences or recommendation would be appreaciated?

So Far
ASUS A7V133 mobo
Duron 750
256mb PC 133 Kingston Value Ram
SB Live value

Thanks for the help.

VIA has released the fix in the 4-1 drivers and many MB include the workaround in their BIOS's

Funny that VIA kept insisting that it was creative's fault and the SB Live cards are 2+ year old design. Turns out that (suprise suprise) that VIA's cheap a$$ chipset could not handle the PCI bus traffic when it peaked.

The via 4.31's and up include the fix & most mobo makers included the fix in a bios update.

Either way, its like a twisted brother sister combination. One minute the cards are fine, the next, your machine is on fire and floating around your room. If you could avoid it I would.

I have the Asus A7V board (VIA based) and SB Live! Value card, never had any problems with it whatsoever...

Yup, the new 4in1's fixed the bug. I had that same combo and had no problems and 2 others are running the same combo without problems. I guess it's just a "rare" problem considering the millions of SB owners with the VIA chipset.
