I've got a msi kt3 ultra mobo and for some reason when i enable the onboard audio (via ac97 realtek 650 chipset), winxp doesn't detect it.. I remember it being able to detect the chipset with other mobos in other pcs.. But this one doesn't do it.. I was previously using an SB Live Value, but i needed to remove the card, so I wanted to use the onboard audio however doesn't seem to detect..

What could be wrong?

Thanks,
Alex

forgot to mention, i did enable it in bios..
and i did get the drivers from the site..
however winxp still doesn't see any audio devices whatsoever

I am uncertain of that particular sound chipset, but I had an older card with an realtech chip onit and I never got the drivers to work in XP. If it is an MSI board you might try the drivers from their site. Also make sure you delete all the sound stuff relating to audio from within device manager.

I have an MSI KT333 Ultra ARU and use the onboard sound without any problems...

Make sure you have the latest drivers from Realtek (linked above), also ensure that the sound is enabled unde Integrated Peripherials (sp??) in the BIOS. The latest BIOS and 4 in 1 drivers might also help.
