Via 4-in-1 version question

Last I heard Via was saying they were going to make a utility to identify your 4in1 version, but it's never materialized. Probably better to just install the new ones, but... I do sympathize with not wanting to fix something that doesn't have anything wrong with it.

The big problem is that the 4in1 version number isn't actually saved anywhere. All the drivers in the pack have their own distinct versions. About the best I can recommend is finding the driver files in the windows directory. Then (at least with Win2k) you can use the properties box to try and identify the version numbers. Then maybe you can use those to figure out what 4in1 pack they came from.

I know - it's a pain in the ass, but it's the best I can think of. Next time, write the version number down 🙂
 
Just found this on the Via site. Might not hold true for older 4in1's though, since I clearly remember them saying there was no way to tell a while back.

How can I tell what VIA drivers I have installed?

Answer:
Open Start - Run and type in "regedit" (without the apostrophe marks). Double clikc HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SOFTWARE and check the listing under VIA and/or VIA4in1Driver
