I haven't used the a Via Chipset board in awhile, so I have a couple questions. Are the Same Via 4 in 1 drivers used for both the Tbird chipsets, and P3 chipsets? What are the best revision of the 4 in 1 drivers to use?

Well, I'm going to find out if I can get AGP 4x under Windows with my Radeon.

edit: No go on AGP4X. I also noticed no change in performance with the new AGP driver.

edit: Erm, not with the S540. Thinking of another computer.

Yes, I could use AGP4x with my KT133 chipset.

Oh? I can't get my A7V (KT133) to work at 4x AGP with my Creative Annihilator2. How'd you do it? (I'm using the latest Creative drivers + VIA AGP4.04)

After finally getting 4X and some pretty good scores with my KT133 duron 600@900 on my A7V/GF2MX - I am rather wary of updating Via's drivers once again (I use 4.26).

I installed then. They did nothing for me. Haven 't tried enabling AGP4X yet, but it'll prolly cause a bit of instability like it alwaz had before on my G400 equiped P3V4X.

I really like the drivers that came with 4.26, as everyone's noticed, less &quot;grinding&quot; in win2k

I just did a fresh install of Win2K SP1 and installed the 4.27 drivers minus the IDE busmaster. Everything is peachy, and AGP 4x works great for me.

No problem with my MSI K7T Pro &amp; Geforce2 MX running in AGP4x mode, all my games are 100% stable.

Question for you guys using the drivers... after installing them, it changes my drives to all SCSI under system devices. I know this is what they are suppose to do, but I heard about problems with not being able to play DVD's (haven't tried it yet), and I've been having problems burning with my TDK... Adaptec EZ CD creator works because they have their own ASPI installed when you install the program. Sooo, I figured other programs would work after installing that right? Well, NERO doesn't work, so I tried installing some other ASPI files I found, still can't get it to work.

So my question is, how do you guys get DVD and CDR functionality after installing? What else did you guys install? Thanks...

I just did a fresh format, and haven't installed the Busmaster and 4 in 1's yet... since I couldn't figure out how to get my burner working last time...

These totally fux0r3d my Win2K install... I just finished reinstalling Win2K because of them.... took 15 minutes just to open control panel after I installed them. Back to 4.26 without Win2K IDE drivers for me.

Dulanic: So are your harddrives in PIO mode? Or are you running them in DMA? I'm not sure if I want to install those bus master drivers yet from that Soltek site... before I figure out how to get my burner or dvd rom to work when my drives read SCSI in the device manager.

The new VIA Win2k IDE drivers screwed my DVD playback and CDR/CDRW burning. I promptly uninstalled them and everything was OK again.

Yeah I've had the Via IDE drivers do very strange things, even dating back to June's version. So...I never use them. Sure I could be losing a bit of performance but stability is more important. Let's hope 4.28 is the magic #.

All my drives are DMA. But it didnt seem to be related to the busmastering drivers.... it was weird.... if Id try like opening control panel or some other things they wouldnt open for 10 minutes... and what was really weird was ICQ opened it the background but I couldnt see it while I was waiting for control panel.... I know it was running tho cause I heard the sounds of messages.

Is there any better performance using the Windows IDE drivers other than the VIA ones? If so, how can you untinstall the VIA BM drivers?
