VHS to PC, audio only comming from one speaker?

I am transferring old home movies on VHS to my PC. I have a VCR connected to my Canon ZR70 camcorder, the camcorder to my PC via firewire. The capture quality is great, I am using Premiere Elements 2.0 (Using S-Video and regular audio connectors, Red and white)

I noticed during playback the the sound is only comming from my left speaker. I checked the settings on the VCR and the audio is set correctly, I also checked the audiod setup from my camcorder and it is set to both channels. All the cords were plugged in tight and correctly. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!

Using S-Video and the white and red audio connector which then goes into one audio in plug on the camcorder. Camcorder going into the PC via firewire.

Sounds like the audio on the tape is mono. Did your old camcorder record in stereo?

The home movies are not mine nor does my aunt remeber what camcorder they had.

Is that one audio in plug one of those 1/8" deals? If it is make sure it is a stereo plug, also try twisting it a bit or pulling it out slightly.

If they are relatively old then you can almost guarantee that they were recorded with a mono camcorder and therefore the tapes would not output in true stereo.

This may be the case. I thinke 1 band on the jack means mono, 2 bands means stereo.
