VHS Capture Card

Does one exist? Basically something like a capture card that I could hook my VHS to and use iMovie to capture and edit? Anything under $100? I have an iMac G5.

It won't be a literal card due to the number of Macs without expansion slots. What you're going to want to look for is a Firewire capture device.

I was reading on the Apple Discussion forums that the Pinnacle card can't import into iMovie and doesn't do a good job of syncing the audio.

EyeTV would do the trick. They sell USB capture devices and support one or two third-party brands.

These are great if you're doing conversions on an ongoing basis.

Decent Mini DV camcorders have a pass-through mode where it will take in an analog source and output to DV. If you have access to one, that'll save money vs. buying a decent converter.

I know my EyeTV Hybrid supports analog-in conversions, but I've never tried. As others suggest, iMovie is easiest to use with a DV source.
