VGA to TV help

I was hoping to hook an old laptop (delll b130) to an old tube TV with a scan converter but it doesn't seem to work. The image flickers and goes up and down the screen. I have the resolution set to 60 Hz and 640x480. Is there something else I'm missing?

If you think you have everything set up ok on the laptop, check TV settings and read your TV manual.

When hooking up my 7600GT and 8800GT to my Panasonic HD Plasma set via VGA, the manual helped me greatly. TV settings are important and can help you sort things out.

Yeah check the manual and recommendations for use of the unit.
If it is a scan converter the source settings shouldn't matter much within the allowed limits of resolution and scan frequency / formats.

If it is basically feeding the PC signal to the TV without using a frame buffer then the PC will have to exactly match the TV scan rate, interleaving, sync times, and sort of resolution.

Hmmmm.... not much in the way of documentation on the TV. I guess the scan converter is just no good. I'm assuming it's a converter because it says it accepts resolutions of up to 1024
