VGA to Composite Cable?

Friend has a laptop he wants to hook to his TV. It's older and has composite connections (and possibly component though he's not sure). He says he'll be satisfied with the laptop speakers for sound.
Saw a cable but it was too short.
Is this the correct option?

yeap. just need a composite cable from the box to the tv.

get the tv model then you can find out for sure if it has component.
 
You should check the TV's manual to see whether this video input is supported and at what resolution. I tried connecting an old desktop with a 3year-old HDTV and the image was very bad.

I have yet to encounter a manual that says "yeah, our computer input sucks". So reading that manual is not going to do much.
