VGA Switch

So I dropped my laptop and the LCD is in 5 different pieces...but everything else still works! It's not worth it to me to repair it, so I was thinking of just using the video out and turning it into a stationary desktop. I was thinking about sharing my lcd monitor (which belongs to my real desktop) with a VGA switch, does anyone have any recommendations or warnings about this?

I've heard that there can be ghosting problems if you use a VGA switch; can anyone confirm loss of video signal quality?

Thanks!
