I recently bought a VGA silencer r3. I notices the bottom surface was rough, but installed it anyway. Looking back.. should i have lapped it?
 
That is an asymmetrical heat sink. It is very difficult to lap. I did. Half way through, I was not happy that I did. It is OK now. But, it is very easy to screw up.
