VGA Silencer high low switch

Anyone know off hand which way is high and which way is low speed on the switch?
It's stamped into the header, but it gets covered when the card is in...
I can't seem to tell, just by looking at the way the fan spins either... 😱
 
hmmm, with the card in a tower case, would that be up or down... 😉 The switch is at the bottom of the header, but that not the direction it can move...

It is noticeable when you turn the switch. Up = Low, Down = high. I can hear the noise label increase or decrease when I switch.

If you can't tell, who cares? 🙂 The whole point of Low is to be quieter than High, but apparently both are below your PC's noise floor, so pick one and forget about it. But the obvious indications are more noise and more airflow for High. You can probably even tell by using Motherboard Monitor to see which setting lowers your case temp. more.

so they dont make a copper one? too cheap to spend extra on components that conduct heat better, and what about the back? can i fit one onto the back of a card?
 
Just put your hand under the fan inside the case and on the high setting you should feel more air on your hands, thats how I did it.

If that HS was made of copper it would weigh a ton. None of the BIG vga coolers from Zalaman are made of copper either.

and what about the back? can i fit one onto the back of a card?

What about the back? There aren't any vga coolers that I know of that actually make contact with the back of the card. It is completely unneccessary.

memory produces heat

there's alot more heat from the gpu transferred to the board & memory chips than what's output from the mem chips themselves...

It's also easier to tell if you wet your hand first and put it back there while switching.
