I have a touch screen monitor which was connected to a computer via a VGA connection. the cable has been ripped out of the connection block and when serching for a PIN-OUT diagram i have found that the cable colours i have are not the standard colours. Does anyone know which pins the cables go to?? the colour cables i have are:

Red
Green
Blue
Purple
Yellow
Brown
Orange
Gray
Black
White
White & Brown Stripe
White & Black Stripe
Thick Black (soldered to the outer edge of connection)

Many thanks in advance

You're pretty much screwed.

EDIT: Sorry, that wasn't very helpful. I can tell you that the thick black cable is the ground.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the cable has been ripped out of the connection block." Do you mean it was pulled out of the VGA connector that plugs into your vid card? Are there no wire tails sticking out of the connector?

If you have any short cable remaining on the VGA connector, you can strip enough of each wire to use an ohm meter to see which pin is connected to each wire.

It sounds like the problem is that you don't know the color code used by your monitor's manufacturer. I would suggest contacting them. They may be willing give you a link to download the service manual for your monitor which would probably show the color code, or they may just give you the info.

If you feel comfortable going into the monitor, you may want to look to see how difficult it is to install a replacement cable assembly. If the cable is easily removable with good access to all solder points, and you have decent soldering skills, they may be willing to sell you an entire connector assembly.

I've done it on a couple of monitors. Others I've checked were not so accessible. Worst case, it's not that difficult a job for a good repair shop, but whether it's worth it depends on what they want relative to the current value of your monitor.

Good luck. 🙂

Maybe try using a continuity meter and going pin to pin.

i mean there are no tail ends left on the conection block so i basicly have a newly striped wire with a blank connection block. i was thinking of trying to buy a new cable as the end which connects to the mother board simply conects via a long conection block but i am unsure of the name of the conection block. Many thanks for your help everyone
