VF700 on a Northbridge? 7700Cu on a video card?

Has either of these ever been done?

It would be hella cool to try out. I think I have seen a 7000Cu on a video card somewhere.

CPU HSF on a GPU, yes. GPU HSF on a NB, hell no. With the former option, there is plenty of space next to the GPU slot to work with. There's simply not enough room for you to squeeze a GPU HSF on the NB 'cause it's right next to the CPU socket and space is very very limited.

I've put a Zalman 7000B on my old X1800XT and X1900XT, it was a pain in the ass bending the fins to make it fit when it was in the PCI-e slot.

I mounted a Tt Volcano 9 to my X1900XT, even made custom ramsinks for it. Unfortunately I mounted it too close to the slot and it wouldn't plug in 🙁

Funny you should ask...

VF700 on Northbridge

Hah, maybe somebody should email that to Zalman, they could use a chipset heatsink to compete with the Thermalright HR-05.

If you go to the next page you see that he took a P3(i think) cooler and cut it up into RAM SINKS!!!

MY GOODNESS LOL

"In the end, the mod allowed him to increase the memory clock by 30MHz DDR. So, his GeForce 6800 LE was now running at 444MHz core and 1130MHz memory. "

He got to 6600GT territory with GDDR1
