I have a Zalman VF700 Cu on my X800GTO2, and I'm not sure it'll be any better than the stock heatsink on the X1900 XT I have coming tomorrow. Anyone know if I should even bother putting the Zalman on the X1900?

I'm pretty sure it won't cool the card nearly well enough (worse than stock.) There was a recent thread from someone who tried this and it didn't work out well. Th Vf900 could be a completely different story however.

Well, as someone who has had a VF-700 and a VF900 on an X1900XTX, id say, minimum try the VF900. I get the feeling I got an unually hot X1900XTX, but the VF700 simply was not enough (and if you look at zalmans website, it isnt in the list of cards its compatible with). The VF-900 has cooled my temps around 8 degrees accross the board compared to the VF 700, but they are still not quite acceptible..

If you can tolerate the noise stick with stock. If you cant, maybe the VF900 will work for you, I have also heard good things about the KU formula heatsink.

I got the card today and at idle the fan is actually pretty quiet, and if need be I can turn it down further with ATI Tool, so I'm not going to bother installing the VF700.
