I'm about to acquire an HD2600 Pro AGP card thru a trade with another member here and was wondering if it'd be worth it to buy a VF700-Cu as I cannot seem to find any official word on whether it'll fit on the card :/

Has anyone here installed a VF700-Cu on an HD2600 Pro AGP card ?

if you did a search, I posted very similar question (HD2600 XT instead of Pro). One member replied yes. The thing is, vf700 and vf900 has been around for a while and 2600 series are relatively new so very little on its compatibility, including the manufacturer's website. I've read some article where the vf700 doesn't perform at the same level as the x1950 stock. I'm not sure if x1950 has similar thermal footprint as the 2600 series, if so vf700 is not a good option. I'm either thinking the vf900 or ZeroTherm gx815.

I wish the VGA vendors would come out with standard or atleast consistent naming for its mounting options if they can't atleast provide an adequate thermal solution with bearable acoustics.

Actually I just tried last night with my friends VF 700-AlCu and it's a no go :( Holes don't line up with either of the screw locations on the VF cooler :(

Also for anyone that thinks about replacing the stock cooler on a Pci-E port ( like the X1xxx and HD series ) you'll need to make danged sure the HSI chipset gets a heatsink on it. This is prob one reason the mounting holes on the AGP varriants of these cards don't line up. The manufacturers don't want to be held responsible when someone installs an aftermarket cooler that doesn't cool the HSI bridge which will lead to premature HW failure.
