Many, MANY places will have free or dirt cheap food for you. Most parks and stuff are also free or greatly reduced.

My VFW commander sent me an email with local places having specials. But of course Manassas is a veterans town. Lemme go dig it up.

OK, cant get into my email on the computer, will have to transpose from the phone.

Applebees has a free meal, and I know you guys dont like them but for some strange reason my local branch has much better food that day. I dunno why.
Drinks are extra. Please tip your waiter.
Chillis - Free meal.
Golden Corral - Free meal but only from 5 to 9 pm.
Hooters - One free meal. Titties extra. Please bring tip money.
Krispy Kreme - One donut.
McCormick and Schmicks Seafood - Free lunch. Never tried them before.
Outback - Free onion and coca-cola.
Subway - Free six inch.
Texas Roadhouse - Free meal until 4 pm.
TGIF - Buy one get one free.
Unos - Free entree or mini pizza.
Home Depot, Lowes - 10 percent off.

Can I pretend to be a vet?

you deserve an ass kicking for even thinking of doing that

How are they going to verify the individual is a veteran? I'm a veteran, but no longer have a military ID or IRR obligation.

You got a DD-214 didnt you?
Just show them a copy with your social blacked out. They wont keep it, just look at your name.
I got a VA identification card myself, easy.

Have to dig that up. Its not exactly something I tote around. 😛 Last time I had it out was for my interview at my current employer.

You should have one copy somewhere in your house, locked up.
You should have originals in a deposit box somewhere else.

I took my DD214 to the county clerk's office at the courthouse and had them make it a public document. They have a copy if I ever lose mine, which by the way, I do not remember where I placed the original copy. A scanned copy is on my computer though.

For something to publicly show, the veteran's hospital gave me a Veteran's Universal Access Identification card.

Please post here if you know of other places offering discounts or freebies (food and anything else).

Also post if you have any exceptionally good or bad service. We'd like to know which places to support in the future. For example Applebees may not have the best daily service, but they tend to go out of their way for special functions, so the VFW uses them a lot.

 They came over very concerned that we weren't eating the food we ordered. The manager refused to let us pay when he found out we were in town because my grandfather (WWII vet) was dying of cancer

Thanks for your service guys!

i went to applebees last year and thought the food and service was great. the joint was loaded with vets.

All right either there's hundreds of thousands of vets in a handful of towns with fifty thousand people each, or we got assloads of serious scammers here. I don't mind cuz they aren't stealing from me, but the businesses may be hurting.
