Very Warm: Gainward Ti4200 128mb (refurb) 71.00 Free shipping!

I've gambled and lost with NewEgg's refurbed video cards. You might get lucky and receive a card that someone couldn't figure out how to install, or you might get a card that has had the guts overclocked out of it. I'm not trying to crap on this thread, but there are people that are using NewEgg's RMA policy to experiment with the limits of a video card.

Agreed.

Also, there's no way you're going to get "4600 speeds" with 4NS ram. It's just not gonna happen...

PSOD?

Pink Screen of Death. That was the common failure of particular model Gainward Ti4200 cards. They fixed the problem long ago on later Ti4200s, but many people got that failure.

its 3.3NS

I guess the original deal (Ti4200 128MB) sold out. That one did have 4ns memory. The second link is a Ti4200 64MB with 3.3ns memory.

I'd have taken a chance on this card IF it were 128 mb of RAM, but not the 64mber. I have a rule that whenever I upgrade my video cards...I have to double the amount of RAM from what my previous card contained. What can I say...I'm a red blooded american male;-)!

I was looking at the 128mb 3.3ns for only $10 more but it was sold out. What do these cards come with? Any accessories such as the vivo connector or is it just plain white box? I am sure the 3.3ns memory can hit 4600 speed easily.

Readup on the reviews, 128 is not going to make the kind of difference it sounds it would. That's not what you look for in a video card.

GeForce4 Ti 4200's destroy GeForce FX 5200 Ultras which retail for $150.

I would be more concerned if the card is defective or not but as far as video cards go, it's between any GeForce4 Ti for under a $100 or Radeon 9800 for $199, anything in between may not be worth the money...

Checked the PNY BB thing out for all of OKLA and TEX - all gone... They supposedly had three in El Paso, but somehow they couldn't find them... go figure.

I recently bought an Asus ti4200 128mb from newegg refurbs for 70 bucks. It works perfectly.

As far as the 64mb arguement goes, I have an ATI Radeon 9600np 256mb and a Radeon 8500 64mb. The 8500 spanks the 9600 in everything except 3dmark 2003. The amount of memory doesn't seem to mean diddly squat as far as current games go.

The 128MB one even had VIVO! So you could capture video as well. Too bad it ran out so fast!

But I am thinking that it comes in a white box with no accessories. So you'll have to purchase the vivo dongle somewhere else. I could be wrong though since I have never purchased a refurb vid card for them only mobos.

Chaintech Ti4200 $79 128MB AGP8x VGA/DVI/VIVO link

and yes, if it's OOS soon, it's because it is sold. It's in-stock as of right now. I don't recommend newegg refurbs because it has an unreasonably short warranty, but I know some of you guys like 'em.

You can't expect the VIVO dongle to be there, so you'd have to know where to get it if Newegg ships a bare card. People have been lucky in the past, getting retail or almost-retail packages with most or all of the accessories. It's really hard to say though.

newegg refurb used to be good, but not any more I remember the Radeon DDR LE deal from newegg for 60 when the regular one is like 150ish back in 2001 or so. I tried to buy refurbished Radeon 8500s later on, and was not able get a working one. So avoid them.
