That is NOT possible at all period...noway sorry.... a 20c drop.......you realize 20c is equal to 68 degrees farenheit?
noway Jose.......sorry!!! rofl.....hahahaaaaa

What usually happens when people post they had a great drop in temps when using As5 or any other thermal paste is they forget to mention they cleaned the dust out of the fins of the heatsink and or they also cleaned the rest of there case out and did a clean install of there heatsink!!

a 68 degree drop (20c) just is not possible...rofl

And you can't prove he's wrong any more than you can prove you're right...so just give up...I did cause you don't listen to anyone who says you're wrong, or says the product you use is inferior in any way.

Tc = (5/9)*(Tf-32); Tc = temperature in degrees Celsius, Tf = temperature in degrees Fahrenheit

20 degrees difference in Celius is 36 degrees difference in Fahrenheit in the following examples and I could totally see that with a hot chip like a Prescott.

72C= 161.6F
52C= 125.6F
32C= 89.6F

So, if the Prescott could be brought from 161.6F at load down to 125.6F after AS5(and probably cleaning out the heatsink too) I could see it happening.

I'm still chuckling at the OP. Heck, you must use something between the heatsink and the cpu... this is not optional! Even a dab of toothpaste or some peanut butter would be better than no thermal paste at all! :D

You are so lucky that wasn't an Athlon from a few years back or you woulda fried it in around 2 seconds. :laugh:

Or, more likely, they finally got that last corner of the HS/F assembly snapped down :p

thats so funny everybody wants a tuniq tower and they sold out and you got one and running it without any thermal paste lmao!!!
What's even funnier (to me, at least) is that he's now arguing when he's told that he needs thermal paste.:shocked:

Wrong just wrong...AS5 has a more pure silver content than the generic "paste" that you get with a heatsink. It is a better conductor than the usual crap.
Wrong, just wrong. It all depends on which thermal compound they come with. This: Arctic Cooling MX-1, which comes already applied on all Arctic Cooling heatsinks, is considerably better than anything that Arctic Silver makes.

Pfft, go read some reviews in closed testing that puts AS5 against others. AS5 was on top all the time. Although the difference was small, there was a difference in favor of AS5.

I don`t know if your just argumrntative by nature...but you obviously haven`t donw any tests using thermal the thermal pastes that ship with heatsink verses AS5....
I have compard AS5 to the thermal paste that ships with the Zalman 9500 and the the Scythe Ninja as well as the ThermalRight XP-120.....there was No discernable difference even after allowing for the burn in of the AS5.

The problem with all your arguments cmdrdredd; is they are based on supposed articles that you have read that have nothing to do with first hand experience using the thermal pasts or the heatsinks.

if you went back 6 months or more you would see thread after thread saying there was no discernable difference by many many proplr on these forums.

You would also find thread after thread saying why do i get lousy temperatures from the Zalman 9500....or from the Ninja or from the Tuniq Tower and I get better temps from various other heatsinks.....
Again it has to do with the fact the even though reviews are a good tool for making a purchase; they are no substitute for first hand experience.

There are so many variables from computer to computer there truly can be no BEST heatsink and again AS5 is way over rated......

I know its hard to admit your wrong but its good for the soul to do that once in a while!!
AS5 may be overrated but that doesn't mean that the generic crap that comes with these products are just as good. Companies are here to make money, if you had the choice of spending $2 of thermal paste to bundle with your product or $.90 which would you choose? Any sensible business man (unless specifically mentions in the product why it costs more and is therefore gearing to a slightly different audience) would choose the cheaper compound.

I bet you installed it wrong too. Even without paste, those are ridiculous temperatures. You need to get someone who knows what they're doing to help you, you're really obviously not up to this. :(
