very technical os and driver question, need some expert advice.

First off I'd like to list what im running here.

2500 barton 2.2ghz
2 2x256 ocz dc ddr400 and 1 256 kingston ddr400
6800gt pny 256mb
enermax 431

okay, I ran aquamark3 and got 35929
got around 11000ish in 3dmark (i got 10987 with 6800oc 128mb)

Something just doesn't seem right with my pc, like something is off either in bios or drivers.

should fast writes be on? shadow bios?

and all those crazy things in advanced tab?

can someone post a checklist of things that should be diabled or enabled?

Okay heres my real question too.

If I reinstall Xp right now using repair, and it installs fresh over what I have, will it remove all my mobo drivers except the xp generic ones, so I can reinstall the nforce drivers over and recent video drivers?

Or do i need to do a complete format, because i don't really want to lose my files, but I guess to obtain better peformance I should...

Please give me some advice to what I need to do to make sure everything is supposed to be running as its supposed to.

- fast writes should be on
- whenever you have the option to do a fresh install, do it. nothing is better for windows than a fresh install
- make sure AGP is set to 8x
- disable onboard components if you aren't using them (sound, video, etc)

I don't know what your mobo is or I might be able to help more.

No, it won't delete anything. With Win2K and up doing a fresh install is worthless 9 times out of 10 unless you can't find a way to just remove all of the crap you have installed.

there is a good thread here which most likely addresses your issues at some point... also IMHO a fresh install is always the way to go especially with a new build... assuming ur using xp pro sp2 like myself.
