Hello ..

I am facing some unusual problem at my end and need help. I used to go to a famous coffee shop almost every day from last one year. And i never had any problem in connecting to their WiFi network there. However, recently I moved to a different city from last 2-3 months. And returned back again here. Now when I visited that coffee shop, I noticed that I AM NOT ABLE TO CONNECT EITHER MY LAPTOP, PHONE (ANDROID AND NOKIA ONES) to the WiFi.

Here is what happens whenever I try to connect-

** Please note that the coffee shop wifi DOES NOT have wifi password. Usually one connects to it and then clicks on "Accept" from the coffee company page to start browsing **

Phones (Both my old Samsung Android and Nokia)- I have to wait for sometime for the coffee shop wifi to appear in the list. And when I press connect, it says remembering and then it gets automatically disappears from the list. Then I have to refresh the list, and enable/disable wifi to get it back on the list. Sometimes it automatically appears randomly. It looks like i am getting kicked out and not able to connect to the access point.

Laptop - I have a mini wifi internal wifi card in my laptop with windows 8. Whenever I click on the coffee shop network name on the list, it says "Connecting ..." and then it gives a message -- "Can't connect to this network". Please see the screeshot images to better understand.

Tablet (New one) - WORKED!! I recently opened this new Amazon fire 8 tablet and used this for the first time at this coffee shop... and surprisingly, it connected instantly without any problems!

What I tried doing -

In order to rule out any possibility of my MAC address being blacklisted on the network, I tried changing the MAC address, and it still didn't worked.
I tried using an external USB adapter (a cheap chinese one with an antenna).. It still didn't work
Tried modifying the network settings to static IP by manually entering the IP, Gateway, DNS etc... didn't work
Tried resetting the IP settings, re-installing wifi card drivers etc.. didnt work

I am not sure whats going on. And need to get back online in my old devices at this coffee shop. And I noticed that most of the people there are able to connect without any problems. However few said that they were not able to get online through their laptops! Does it means that only the new devices are able to connect with this network? What have they changed in the settings??

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

It sounds like you've tried a number of things, but did you try the simplest thing? Telling your device to "Forget" the network, and then add it like it's a new network, so it picks up whatever new settings or new MAC address they are using on that hotspot? (Maybe they upgraded their router in the interim?)
