Very specific Fellowship of the Ring question

There's been some argueing about a certain part of the movie for me and my friends. When the Ring Wraiths approach the lil hobbits, bugs are seen coming out of the ground. Now, I interpreted this as the black riders being so full of evil that they conjure up insects from the ground. Some others pointed out that they thought the bugs were scared of The Nazgûl. Any thoughts?

By the way this is the best movie I have seen in the theaters. Ever. And I'm not even that much a fan of the books. So take it.

I don't remember it being said in the books, I would think it would be because they were attracted to the evil. The bugs didn't seem to flee from the Black Rider, they seemed to appear when he came and stayed until he left.

I'd say the evil idea is more likely considering that they evil forces have creatures working for them. i.e. the flock of birds.

But then again you know my thoughts
