Well I've been on Lexapro for more than two years now and I've never had this itching prior to a few weeks ago. I'm hoping it isn't Lexapro as Lexapro literally saved my life.

It can be all sorts of things.. it's most likely dry skin or allergies of some sort.

I hate when my back itches right between the shoulder blades... the only way I can scratch it is to rub my back on a door frame like a friggin bear, lol.

If you're white, you have skin cancer. If you're not white, you have ass cancer.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago...itched like crazy and then started getting hives...it last about a month before i went to the dermatologist once the hives appeared...he gave me some pills and it slowly went away. We never found out what caused it...but he guessed it was an allergic reaction to something.

Ok for the past few weeks now I've been having random itching all over my body from my legs to my crotch to my back and arms. It's very random and happens throughout the day. I do take Lexapro but I've tried not taking it for a day or two and it still occurs.

I thought perhaps it might be the detergent I use to wash my clothes but if that was the case wouldn't my entire body itch all the time? I'm just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before. I'm hoping it isn't something severe or life threatening. I do have an appointment but they're so backed up I don't go in until like October 28th.

This happened to me when I switched detergents. Try getting a "free and clear" one that has no dyes or scents, etc.

With me I would break out at the end of the day. Just had to wash everything in the new detergent....took benadryl to kill the itch. Cleared up after about a week.

Did you have a good nap while your laundry was washing?

Yeah, hives suck. I've had them for the last 8.5 YEARS. Have to take medicine every day to keep them halfway under control. bleh

Anyway, OP, go buy some Lubriderm or something similar. Start with the simplest explanation for the itchiness, dry skin, and work from there.

Eczema, perhaps. See a dermitologist.

i have eczema and my skin itches all over. it sucks and there is no known cure :(

There are VERY effective treatments available. You can't *cure* it, but it can be effectively controlled. Have you seen a dermatologist?

I take Lexapro too but never experienced your chronic itching. Now showers here make me itch. Damn hard water.

wait a minute...hard water?

I thought it was hard water that left residue. I could be wrong. I've never heard anyone complain of soft water.

yeah I've been using this steroid cream for years. I apply it only when needed (because of the potential side effects) but there are still outbreaks now and then. and my skin still gets pretty dry esp. after a shower.

Does eckzema affect your entire body? Like you'll break out in rash all over the place?

in my experience, only the affected areas get the symptoms. but the affected areas can get larger. it's not an infection as far as i know. just abnormal response of the immune system. i've always had a touchy immune system (allergies and asthma in childhood)

Even the best treatments aren't all that effective, for me. Fortunatly, I now live in tucson, which is just about the perfect environment for eczema prevention.
