Ok for the past few weeks now I've been having random itching all over my body from my legs to my crotch to my back and arms. It's very random and happens throughout the day. I do take Lexapro but I've tried not taking it for a day or two and it still occurs.

I thought perhaps it might be the detergent I use to wash my clothes but if that was the case wouldn't my entire body itch all the time? I'm just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before. I'm hoping it isn't something severe or life threatening. I do have an appointment but they're so backed up I don't go in until like October 28th.

I haven't changed anything in my diet. I shower once a day before I go to bed. I've always showered like this. I haven't even eaten anything at all today. I've been itching since this morning. It comes and goes when it pleases.

Ok well because you are a "lifer" i'm assuming you have none so that would also assume that you could live a day with out clothing since you live in your parent's basement, so the solution...?

This happened to me when I switched detergents. Try getting a "free and clear" one that has no dyes or scents, etc.

With me I would break out at the end of the day. Just had to wash everything in the new detergent....took benadryl to kill the itch. Cleared up after about a week.

I am reading on Google about itching. http://www.chclibrary.org/micromed/00045230.html <- that scares me as my family is prone to diabetes and I'm overweight. I haven't had a physical in many years. I scheduled an appointment for an "allergy" specialist doctor tomorrow at 2:00PM. So anyone who is religious, pray for me that it isn't something very severe. I'm only 23 and I'd like to live for as long as I can healthy. If this means changing my diet, so be it, I will do it. Here's hoping to nothing bad tomorrow!

As Captain Obvious would say: If you're fat and prone to diabetes and want to live a long and healthy life, maybe you should exercise more and lose some weight.

How bad is the scratching?

Having experienced the Mad Itch as a result of contracting cat scratch fever I can sympathize. Make sure you don't have some sort of low grade infection by checking your body temperature. A body temperature above normal would indicate some sort of infection. Take antibiotics if necessary. Take antihistamines to help reduce the urge to scratch. Hope this helps.

You owned yourself...the only thing in that link about itching says this:

"Women may experience genital itching."

Well, this has been happening for over a few weeks now so I'm almost positive it isn't an infection of some sorts. Next door to me is a house that has two dogs and they urinate all over the place the owners of the house don't do anything about it. I can smell it most times when I wake up in the morning. I was thinking maybe I'm becoming allergic to dogs or something.

Yes, I do want to lose weight. It isn't that I don't want to it's just I'm addicted to food.

The scratching gets really bad sometimes. Often times in the crotch area it feels like jock itch. I used Lamisil spray and it didn't work. I mean it helps out with the itching but other places on my body still itch.

I take Lexapro too but never experienced your chronic itching. Now showers here make me itch. Damn hard water.
