:thumbsup::biggrin:

No poster on OT more deserves a Captain Beefheart reference than Naer!

I just have to say something because it bugs the shit out of me. I'm not the best writer by any stretch of the imagination, but should the title read: "Very old Pic of my mom and I sleeping?" Instead of, "Very old Pic of me and my mom sleeping."

Or is it "Shouldn't the title be" or "Shouldn't the title have been" or "Shouldn't the title have read"... Crap, can I even begin a sentence with or... screw it. Grammar people should respond.

It's a very nice picture. I have a very similar one of my wife and son laying together. What year was the picture taken?

You are absolutely incorrect.

Hypercorrection is always amusing to see though.

I believe it should say something like "my mom and I playing dead back in '86"

Me disagrees, in this instance. You really ought to have read your own link. It points to a different instance of using "me" when "I" is appropriate, as hypercorrection:

Quote:
Jack Lynch, assistant professor of English at Rutgers University, says that correction of "me and you" to "you and I" as subject leads people to "internalize the rule that 'you and I' is somehow more proper, and they end up using it in places where they shouldn't – such as 'he gave it to you and I' when it should be 'he gave it to you and me.'"[6]
Iow, the absolutely WRONG use of "me" in the subject leads people to hypercorrect and substitute "I" for "me" in the object. Got that?

To drive this point home, there is no instance where "Someone and me" is a correct way to begin a sentence, nor is there any instance where correcting this error can be considered hypercorrection.

Talk about amusing! If you try to correct another person's grammatical prescription, and your correction is wrong, and your own provided link shows it's wrong, there's a LOL moment for you.

I saw it before you edited. BUAHAHA. Quoted for posterity.

objects =/= subjects

That's ok. Not many people are aware of the least known classic blunder.

Never argue with Ferzerp when syntax is on the line.

Yeah, my mistake was assuming the OP had used the (also) classic blunder of "X and me" in the subject, which was not the case. Iow, I didn't take my own advice before, ummmm, correcting your correction of his correction. 😛

To Ns1: Must . . . resist . . . follow up pun. :awe:

To Naer: Photos from your past can be a treasure chest of lovely memories. Just be careful when you pass them around the Greyhound bus station that is OT.

Did you say memories or mammaries? :awe:
