VERY odd sound problem

I have a laptop, a Uniwill 258KAO with an A64 3400+. Lately, the sound has been garbled, slowed down, and low in pitch. This is all sound from the computer: music, Windows sounds, etc. The wierd thing is: THE SOUND GOES BACK TO NORMAL WHEN THE CPU IS RUNNING AT 100%. I have to have Prime95 running a torture test in order to listen to music now!! But when playing a game, the game sounds are normal.

WTF?

first try updatig all drivers. if that doesnt work. then you could try disabling your power saving thingies you are running to rule out hardware.

Thank you for the reply. I tried updating to the latest drivers from Realtek...no change. What do you mean by power-saving things?
