VERY MAJOR problem.. motherboard stuff, please help.

I was putting in the new mobo/CPU I ordered today and I first came upon this problem.. the pins on the front panel connector only had 2 pins for my Power LED.. but the power led cord as 3 pins... any ideas? Second is the major problem..

I just wanted to know if the system would boot before I started connecting the HDDs, etc.. so I just put my vid card in and turned it on.. the processor fan didn't even start up and within a second the first pin in the agp slot started to heat up until the first pin on my vid card started to burn, it was literally red hot.. thankfully I've put my old board back in and the card does still work.. but WTF would 'cause a board to get that hot?

About the first:
Is it K7s5A? You can use an exacto knife to cut the power led cord into two parts.
For second: no idea. You should list your mobo and video card here.

The board is an Intel D845WN.. the vid card.. VisonTek GeForce 3

There's a little plastic tab that holds the leads in, just lift it up, pull out the lead, and slide it into middle one, then plug it in with the outside empty slot hanging over empty space...

As for the second problem, sounds like a bad board, better rma it.. it obviously has a power problem and sent too much juice to the agp slot.

*edit* I've seen the newer Intel boards with a separate connnector pin to hook the "3" pin connector onto, Intel must have seen that some case manufacturer's had a 3pin / with 2 wire connector..make sure your board doesn't have an alternative spot to connect to.

its not just new or intel boards, my tyan s1854 (pos) had a 2 pin and a 3 pin... its a pretty old board, one of the first pc133 boards ever out!
