hey guys, im getting Very low marks with PCMark04:
CPU: 3506
Memory: 4938
Graphics: 4358
HDD: 3669

Sandra results:
Dhrystone ALU: 9802
Whetstone FPU: 4162
iSSE2: 6759

Super PI 1mb calculation: 38sec

comparing to other systems similar to mine, the results are LOW (and im OCing)..

my system is:
PIV 3.0E @ 3.6 FSB 240x15
4x256 OCZ 4000 DUAL
GA-8KNXP rev2
TT 480 purepower butterfly
MAXTOR 80GB 8 mb buffer
R9800P 128 256BIT

what can be the problem?

thanks!

well, I'm getting 48k in aquamark... which program makes a true benchmark?

For a system like that, why don't you try and bench Doom3? There are tonnes of posts on how to setup this and get the REAL numbers that matter.

Could the P4 clock throttling be kicking in? In the past using Sandra, I've experienced lower cpu results when nearing the limits of a cpu. The score would increase to a certain point, then would level off.

Maybe this is all wet, but try it.

I thought 4 sticks of memory slowed down the memory timings versus having two. What is your memory timings?

so what do you suggest? timings are SPD..
thanks : )

i ran a doom3 benchmark, the result is 46.5 on timedemo1.. 1024x786 resolution..
is it ok?

Can you try better timmings ?

They should do 2.5-3-3-7 at 240...
When I had GEIL ULTRA PC4200 they did 2.5-3-3-X to about 25xfsb...

Yes, it's on water. 29 idle 38 full.

Other than that, your system seems "normal" for a Prescott.

On one of my many testing, I found that between P4C and P4E :

- Prescott are about 90% the speed of Northwoods in Sandra CPU's test
- Prescott are about +16% the speed of Northwoods in Sandra Memory test
- Prescott are about +8% the speed of Northwoods in Super Pi ( mainly due to the 1MB cache )
- Prescott are about 88% the speed of Northwoods in CpuMark

Also on 3dmarks, they tend to loose some points to Northwood, but I didn't make actual tests with they.

The tests were run with :
- 2x 3.0C
- 1x 3.0E
- 3x 2.8C
- 1x 2.8E

The rest of the system was the same ( in the sig ).

well i've tried with higher timins, as you said, though no reasonable changes on the benchies..
i guess if the results are normal i have nothing to worry about.. though it seems REALY low on pcmark04 and sandra.. (i've seen a 3.0E which is oced to 3.2 which makes higher on sandra).

I would say you are right around where you should be, you are a bit on the light side, but you also have the slowest possible memory timings.

well the mem won't allow higher timings.. coz of the PAT mode enabled.
do you think i have to replace the proccessor/mobo?

I second this! I just recently discovered my P4 is throttling. :(

Either you P4 is running to hot or the BIOS is badly configured.

I've never seen any of my P4 to throttle, than again, they don't pass over 40º :)

Check the temps or the numbers on BIOS...

There are power options settings in your motherboard bios which allow your cpu to throttle back in performance when temperatures get too high/hot for the cpu to prevent damage from excessive heat.

so i should just dissable those options? where are they located in gigabyte board bios?
