Very loud buzzing sound coming out of my laptop!

I don't have a clue what the hell it is but it so annyoing. It's coming out of my laptop's speakers. When I turn the volume up/down the sound is louder/quiter. When I push the mute button it goes away. When I plug in my Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers the sound comes out of the logitech speakers. Saem thing happens if I plug in my headphones, then the sound comes out of my headphones! The sound goes away then keeps coming back! What is it and how can I fix it? It's driving me crazy.

Scroll down and click free. I recorded it, then unpluged the laptop's power adapter. Listen how the sound changes completely.

It sounds as though I can hear my computer loading through speakers.

check your mixer and make sure mic in and line in etc are muted.

Thanks CrispyFried. I realised that my mic wasn't muted but I usually do have it muted so I muted it. I'll see if that works. I'm not going to be home now but when I get back I'll see if it's fixed.

It's ur mic... Some soundcards have a Mic Boost. Make sure that's not checked off (enabled). Mute the mic and 'm pretty sure the problem goes away.

Yep NurseRN, what you said worked perfectly. But I don't get it, if nothing was plugged into the mic jack why was it making a noise?

Cuz you probably have an onboard mic?
