You need to read the article
Seems like you should as well...the whole article. It's rather deceptive as written. It posits that executive orders and memoranda are the essentially the same, then spends the first half of the article fixated solely on memoranda.

Mid-way through the article, he finally gets around to the rest of the story, the combination of executive orders plus memoranda. That's when we see Obama's use is not nearly so remarkable. While he has been slightly higher (10% or so) than his immediate predecessors, he is about average compared to other post-WWII Presidents. He's issued barely half as many as Truman (who also "battled the 'Do Nothing Congress'" according to the article). Obama also issued notably fewer per year than Kennedy, Ford, and Carter. See the chart under the big "An Active President" heading.

Ultimately, the article ends up contradicting itself. It opens with an inflammatory claim, "When these two forms of directives are taken together, Obama is on track to take more high-level executive actions than any president since Harry Truman..." He then refutes himself deeper in the article -- past the point when most people stop reading -- by presenting data showing his initial claim is false. I don't know if that's because he sucks at math, or is working another agenda. Looking at the comments, however, it's apparent he got the usual nutter idiots all fired up. They clearly only read the first few paragraphs.

Boy you really got me there.....called me out on whatever you don't like. This is also a news forum, is this not news article from a media outlet? Tell you what, I hope the new year brings you some peace. You need it.

I'm at peace with myself, you on the other hand don't seem to take criticism very well.

Btw, this is a news discussion forum, it's why threads are locked when no commentary is added to an article and your OP barely qualifies as commentary.

Perhaps, for the new year, you can shows us you are capable of more than regurgitating a talking point;)

It's usually what it comes to, especially from you.

Denial of what, exactly? That Truman issued more combined executive orders & memos than any other modern president? That Obama's efforts in that regard are merely on a par with several of his post WW2 predecessors, even in the face of the most obstructionist congress in history?

And how many of those Presidents campaigned against them only to do a complete 180 once in office?

Senator Barack Obama, 2008: "We're not going to use signing statements as a way of doing an end-run around Congress."

Senator Barack Obama, 2008: “The biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m president of the United States of America.”

Whatever man, you're more interested in insults than conversation. It's a consistent trend. Merry Christmas

Pass a bill.

You can't. Harry Reid. Has over 300 bills that he won't allow to be brought up for a vote. Don't people see who the obstructionist is? This ass hat is much to do with why we have such a dysfunctional congress. Then we have the flip-flopping RINOs like Boehner and McConnell.

300 bills! I recognize that as the "bury 'em under bullshit!" ploy.

Those bills don't have a prayer of passage & those who submitted them knew it all along. Reid sets them aside as an obstructionist waste of time, rightfully so.

Repubs have acted as bomb throwers riding waves of hate & discontent to control of both houses of Congress. Now called upon to govern by the American people, they'll mostly embarrass themselves trying.

Yeh, and GWB campaigned on a stay at home foreign policy. Go figure.

You were saying? Something inane & tangential to the discussion, iirc.

Do carry on, please.

I am ok with it. It's perfectly within his power to do so. On the other hand it's just one more in a long list of crap he campaigned against doing and once in office pulled a 180. If he has stuck to his guns you would be hearing songs of praise, instead we hear the usual But Buuuuuuuush....

Funny that nobody has invoked that name other than the two of you. Is this some sort of pre-emptive denial, or what?

It really isn't hard predicting what you are going to do.

Sorry, I should have added But Truuuuuuuman.....
