I'm seeking ideas for a very inexpensive (sub $50, less is better) wireless Access point/Extender/Repeater. I'd prefer plug n' play with no software or set up, but it MUST have a LAN port plug in back to the router. And it needs to be rated for outdoors, though it will be under a shelter and not exposed to direct weather. Doesn't really need to be GigaBit rated.

May be you would like to be more specific about your Network and what you need it for. Otherwise, it looks like you are expecting to Find "Magic". :D

There are a lot of cheap routers under $50. just uplink one of it's LAN port to the main router and operate in AP mode. You can't find indoor routers rated as outdoors, however.

If you want outdoor rated AP with ethernet

Seems some people feel that, like Tenda and some other Chineseum brands, that they have backdoors. Given my experiences with Chinese-made Android cell phones, I tend to agree!

Any reputable brand should be OK.

Everything has a back door since everything is made there. Some are just not as well known. The only solution is to watch your stuff and be ready to physically pull the plug if you see strange stuff happening.
