Very hot north bridge

Hello, I own a Biostar TF560 A2+ motherboard and was wondering if it was normal for the heatsink on my north bridge to be extremely hot to the touch. I was installing a new fan the other day and upon opening my system I was feeling my CPU heatsink and felt a lot of heat coming from the north bridge, I couldn't put my finger on top of it for more than a second or two. I am a little concerned, is this considered normal or do I need to invest in some sort of aftermarket cooling solution? Thanks!

Same here with my GA-EP35-DS3L. I can only keep my finger on the NB heatsink for max 2 seconds. It's running great at 500 FSB, though (very stable).

Feel is subjective. What's the mobo/chipset temp in bios and in windows?

That is the problem. I don't think my cheap mobo comes with a NB chipset sensor, according to what I read online a while ago.

Sounds a little too toasty for my tastes.

No matter how you look at it, cooler is better.

I'd be getting a little fan on there for some extra peace of mind. :thumbsup:

The board looks like this newegg link to my board, in your opinion could I buy a piece of thermal tape or something along those lines and plop a small fan on the top of the heatsink? it has a flat surface.

Looks like that's one way to go.

I did a little Googleing and see some guys talking about remounting the HS, and others talking about installing a fan. I would think you would want the fan blowing down or over the HS.

Anything would probably help, but maybe a remount would be a good place to start.

Looks like you can let your imagination go wild with tape, fans, and maybe the kitchen sink!

I use this on my GA-EP35-DS3L. Works like a charm. I watercool my CPU but did not feel like restricting the flow with a northbridge cooler.
