Note: While the online system says there was no stock at my local store, I phoned my local B&M and they siad they had 2 on the shelf. Best to call your local store first before heading out. Or you can just buy it online and have it shipped for $5.50. Free shipping on all orders $25 and up!

I bought this in December. It is very small - about 4" square by 1" high but very accurate. I weigh everything from letters to roasts. If you want, it will weigh the container, then zero out until you add ingredients so that only the ingredients will weigh. I really like and recommend it.

Where does it get its energy from? Is it battery-operated? What kind and how many?

I tried to order it online but the order won't go through. I called the 800 number and was told the item was out of stock and the system won't place an order for an out-of-stock item.

It uses one 9volt battery.

While the scales on ebay are well priced, the absurd shipping rates kill any deal.

Anyways, I picked up one (one still left) at the Glendale, CA store today. It is a very compact unit that is teriffic. The online stock system is fubarded. Call your local store to see if they have some left.

These are actually quite accurate...within 0.1oz of the scale at my local USPS post office.

And very compact size too...all the other digital scales I see at office supply stores are much larger (while being able to handle heavier weights of course).

These seem cheaply made, but has lasted over a year for me so far (got it 2 Christmas' ago for $5AR) and is still accurate. A minor quibble is that I would've liked it to be able to display lbs and ozs (e.g. 1 lb 3 oz instead of 19oz).

Once the stock gets low, it won't display as in stock online. Otherwise, they'd have cases of you picking up the last one while someone else is ordering it for in-store pickup online.

Update:
I called my local CC and found they had it in stock. So I picked one up for $10 plus tax. Nice deal.

You're right.. the online stock system is screwed up.
