I own both and this is what I think. I think the PC *now* has more power than the Xbox 360. However, I think the Xbox 360 will continue to put better looking games out because PC developers are still developing for the lower common denominator. Therefore, while a top end PC is faster, it essentially goes to waste (somewhat). Thought being able to enable 16XQAF probably has its advantages...

PC gamers concede that GoW has the best graphics? No. Respectfully, absolutely not. I'm pretty sure any PC gamer would say 'GoW should come out for the PC so I can actually turn on some good looking enhancements.' Also, PC developers develop for everyone. The PC is easy to develop for and is constantly on a basis of establishment as far as graphics go, but consoles are always a new and big change and the developing styles must be totally overhauled and are very limited by the exact architecture of the console. I must give consolation to the console graphics because; frankly, it's hard to make the games on them.

Yeah, especially the part about how the games are developed. Pretty much any gamer knows that console games get better graphics as they age, because the developers learn new tricks to make games look better on the same hardware. I am not a programmer, but I have been told, (and it seems pretty obvious to even my limited programming knowledge), that making software for hardware in which you have the exact specifications, is much easier, especially in the efficiency department.
Really? I've always heard that it is harder to make games for the consoles... must've been mistaken.
Anyways, I may have been wrong, but I still don't think GoW is the best looking game to date because of the lack of image quality. The textures, bump and normal mapping, lighting, etc are the best I've ever seen but:
1) No AA
2) No AF (don't even think it is full trilinear filtering)
3) Still doesn't look good in HD resolutions
That is what I am basing my 'looks good' evaluations on. Sorry for being mistaken on the development part... although I think most programmers say that about the PS3. Maybe not.
I have a 360 hooked up to a Samsung LNS3251D. Games look incredible: GoW, Madden 07, Lost Planet, CoD2. It does look better than Oblivion on my PC, but I only have a Quadro FX1500 video card. I will concede that games designed for demanding graphix will look far better on a computer with a good video adapter and monitor. I just don't see how a console could keep up with resolutions of 720p, limited capacity on a single DVD.
I enjoy both for different reason and will never give one up for another. The problem with the arguments are the components being used for both platforms. My 360 setup had an initial cost of $1500. To get to the top line on the PC, I need about $800 (graphix card + monitor). Getting the best out of either cost money.

How do I not even know what I'm talking about? I simply stated my reasons that it's not necessarily the best looking game out.

I now play 60% of my games on 360 and the rest is time-shared between PC & Wii.
One thing I've noticed Madden 07 looks way better on PC than 360 but I only wish it was in w/s mode.
I've just added a 360 wireless controller on my PC which now will vastly improve my games on PC.
I'm not too great at WASD keyboard, BTW, so the 360 w/l controller for PC would serve my purpose as the greatest thing since window 95, courtesy of M/$.

I think Far cry at 1680 on my 22" LCD looks better than Gears of War on any screen I have played it on (24" WS LCD via vga and on a 50+" 1080p HD LCD).
Gears of War is the best looking console game that I have seen...but epic used a very intelligently selected ambiance and some tricks to produce scenes that look great on a HDTV viewed from some 8+ feet. But when you really sit back and just look at the scenes, the textures aren't really that great, the character and scene detail isn't that fantastic, the draw distance isn't that fantastic either.
But that is just my opinion... I can see why people think the GoW is best looking game ever and I can't really argue against their point of view. GoW has some uber hot graphical effects. But I prefer the the outside island jungle scenes of far cry to most anything I have played or seen.

If you're 360 hands on then this w/l controller is a no brainer.
Go to Pinnavle Game Profiler and download its game profiles.
Most EA Sport games do not need this profiler. Since the game itself already recognizes it and you're good to go.

Is it possible at all to capture screenshots of actual gaming screenshots on XBOX360? I know I saw the trailer and was stunned by the visuals but that was a pre-rendered movie. I'd love to see actual gameplay shots (preferably 1080p). Then the graphical comparison of PC vs consoles would be a whole lot easier.
But I'm guessing it's not possible, knowing we're still arguing over which side's got better graphics..

Are you seriously THAT determined that GoW is the best looking game ever at this moment that you are going to completely dismiss his argument like that?
Stop saying 'You're wrong' or dismissing people and start giving reasons that it looks better than any game out. I personally think the cheap depth of field in that game ruins the graphical quality with the shimmery, ugly backgrounds it creates.
I love Far Cry too, miniMUNCH. It is still such an awesome looking game... and fun as hell.
I'm not going to denounce GoW on fun factor, though. If you get some good teammates on XBL and play you can have some really intense, fun games.
EDIT: Sorry didn't realize miniMUNCH didn't really have a large 'argument' to speak of, but you're still dismissing the small, relevant points he has made MyStupidMouth.

Its just the CRT part dude, thats all. Im playing my xbox 360 on a 17" crt flatscreen. It looks allright.... im at uni i aint dragging a 50" LCD tv which i dont even own to halls Lower your expectations and enjoy the gameplay.

You cannot just say "Believe me" to people without proof, or to people who has no access to that proof. I've heard of enough hype and saw the trailers of the game, and knowing the folks behind the game, I don't doubt the game looks amazing. But it still doesn't amount to "Seeing is Believing."

Oh boy.. what am I supposed to look? How many 'XBOX game of the year' awards did it receive? I'm sorry if I sound offensive but all I want is a couple of detailed screenshots so that I can be 'awed' for myself. Like I said, I am not doubting that the game is great looking. I just want to see it for myself. I'll just search google myself.
