Very Basic Nero Buring Rom Question (I think)

I didnt think I was a total idiot but it appears so now. Here's my problem. I just installed Nero and I have been trying to make a backup of a software CD.

During the initial read phase it says "CD Copyrighted" then a box pops up that says "Medium is not empt. please insert an empty medium"

Well the CD is empty, its a fresh blank CD.

Any help. Until I learn Nero, it so far is a pain (and I've been reading the manual) I been spoiled with Easy CD creator I guess but I am sucking at this Nero for now.

thanks in advance

Yeah...I tried 5 from the same stack (PNY technologies). You have any idea why it says the CD is copyrighted? It even said the same thing on a copy of another Game CD.

???

thanks,

Mattlock

it also gives that error if you are trying to copy more than the allotted amount to the cdr (say you're copying a 700mb cdr to a 650mb cdr) then it would give this error.

Unfortunately I am still have the problem, none of the suggestions work. I emailed Nero support guess I'll wait o them.

thanks everyone

The CD I am trying to backup is a Hasboro Kid's software that I paid $5 for. I still cannot comprehend why Nero of all products cannot do this. My EasyCD Creator did it all day long...and I know this is a better product atleast I hope so.

My writer is a new Verbatim (Lite-on) so I wouldnt think that is the problem. The software came with the drive

This problem simply boggles my mind.

Update

I reformatted my HD and reloaded everything over. Same problem.

the CD player will read software and music CDs fine. I am at a total loss.

When trying to burn a CD, one screen says the medium is blank and the other says the empty is not empty.

Still waiting to hear back from Nero support.

I really wonder if this is a Nero problem or a burner problem. I can always exchange for another I guess

Are you saying when you are trying to burn a CD you get the message that your blank CD-R disk is in fact not empty?
I had this problem with my Lite-On, which I fixed using a jumper trick found on another forum.
BTW Nero is by far the best CD burner program.
