Very bad computer problem

Problem: When i power up my system, i get nothing on my monitor, as if the monitor wasnt even connected to my video card. It did work for about 1-2 weeks at the last couple days, it would freeze at windows logo, and it would randomly give me video, durring that time is when i tryed my friends psu, and it worked fine, but then when i received my new one today, nothing was working so i went and tryed my friends psu and it still didnt work, so now we ruled out the psu. the very last error message i got was about the cpu being overclocked, and it clocked itself down to 2.0 , then i restarted and it was back to normal ghz, then i turned it off, and it hasent been running since, but once it was running it would stay runnning untill i try to restart it.

Things ive tryed: Replacing the psu, replacing the harddrive. My friend also tryed his video card in my computer, but i still had the same problem, so im sure its not the video card.

other info: I have no experiance in overclocking and i tryed to overclock my cpu when i first got it, i went from 2.4ghz to 2.6, then 2.7, my friend told me your supposed to do it in incraments, so i could have possibly destroyed it, but i was pretty sure the cpu has nothing to do with me getting video to my monitor.

Specs:
Hiper 580W
eVGA Geforce 7900GT KO 512mb GDDR3 PCI Express x16
OCZ 2gb (2 x 1gb) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (pc 3200)
Western digital raptor 74gb 10,000rpm harddrive
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 2.4GHz Socket 939 Processor
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD Motherboard

If there is any other things that i can answer for you to better help me, please ask, this problem is problably the worst thing i ever had to go through in my life because this is the first time i built a computer, and i dont know its very frustrating/stressful.

thank you

Clear the CMOS and make sure your heatsink is installed properly

Any error beeps? I assume the fans are spinning properly.

It could be the motherboard... check the caps and make sure they arn't leaking. Have you had any BSD's?

Anyone else have some thoughts?

I'm sure it will all turn out fine Clevee. 🙂

complementary metal oxide semiconductor

Buttttt....you just need to find the jumper on your motherboard and follow the instructions in your mobo manual to clear it

Time to take it apart; full disassembly. Inspect each part for, burns/discoloration, cracks, deformities, etc.; smell everything too.

Put the mb on the bench, install the cpu, hsf (need to clean and re-apply thermal grease/pad), 1 stick of ram, connect psu, install video card (prop up the edge of the mb (I use gum erasers). Before you plug the powercord into the psu, do a reset on the cmos. Connect the monitor to the vid card, plug in the psu power cord, and short the 2 pins on the mb for the power switch.

alright, i am on the computer now (GREAT SIGN) hopfully... Well the way i got it to work was taking one ram stick out, then putting the video card in the other video card slot, and it only seems to work that way and no other, i dont even have my audigy 2 Z5 sound card in, should i try restarting it a few times to see if im just getting lucky, or if thats the right combination?
