Very annoyed at IE

So I turn on the computer today and begin my daily routine of doing thing and going here and there on the internet. I come to the forums here, and I have it set to automatically log me in... but it doesn't do that. So I goto the login screen and put in my username and passwd, it brings me to the screen that says i've successfully logged in and will now bring me back to the forums. Ok, so I get back to the forums and it's as if i never logged in at all. It won't keep me logged in, thinking it was an anandtech thing I went to excite.com where I have pretty much the same setup there and I experience the same problems. I login, it brings me back to the main page as everything is as if I hadn't. I tell them to remember my login but that does nothing.

Not sure what the deal is, everything worked fine yesterday before I shutdown and I didn't think I changed anything but these things don't happen all by themselves. So i'm not sure what I did or how to fix it. I'm running IE 5.5 on win2k. Suggestions?

I went through the settings and everything concerning cookies and whatnot seems to be enables and in order there.

Have you tried reinstalling IE? Try getting one of the progs that let you wipe out Internet Explorer, then try to reinstall from the MS web site.

Also, is it like this for all of the user's on your Win2k box? Or just you? If it is just you, then you may try checking your cookies folder, maybe something in there is mucking everything up. Try deleteing all of the cookies and then connecting to the forums again.

Happened to me once. I rebooted and all was fine.

Well, dunno what happened but it was just me. So I just nuked that user and added me again, no big deal it wasn't too customized.

Is the cookie created on your comp? You should try to find the cookie file.
