I couldn't even fathom what it would be like to know that the end is near when it seems like you have so much more to live for. He sounds like a great guy, and its inspiring to see him still live life to the fullest.

Just looking at the picture of his kids breaks my heart...I can only imagine their reactions to the video once they're old enough to understand it--though if they have just a fraction of their dad's genes there's no doubt they'll turn out to be amazing, with or without him..

I watched the entire video. It was very entertaining actually. He's a great orator, and it's a shame his children will only be able to see his charisma through a few videos.

That said, I thought it was awkward toward the end how people started remembering him. They even used phrases like, "he was", "he had", etc. Then they announced the memorial. They mean well, and I'm not trying to be negative about it; however, isn't this a little odd since he's still alive? I thought memorials were posthumously awarded? Regardless, their speeches were thoughtful and well executed.

I watched the entire video as well. I think it is just amazing how drawn in you are when he is speaking.

I was there in person (I'm a freshman CS major at CMU), it was a very moving speech. Now I really really want to take building virtual worlds, too bad he won't be my professor though :(.

Anyone who hasn't seen/heard Randy Pausch's final lecture, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams", let me tell you it is well worth your time. I only bump this thread because tonight @ 9:00 pm Central on ABC TV, Diane Sawyer has a special 1 hour interview with Randy 9 months after the lecture.

Here is a shortened reprise of his final lecture (about 12 mins)

And here's the entire 1 hour 16 minute lecture "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams".

I wonder what his symptoms were.

I believe it was jaundice that made him see the doc. The other common symptom is upper abdomen and back pains.
