Vertical line on an AG monitor - normal?

I've just bought a 22" Philips 202p monitor, everything is great, except that in addition to the two damper wires, I see a third vertical one, approx. 2/3 of the screen, starting from the bottom and fading towards the top wire. It looks just like the other two lines, and is present even when there is no input signal, just the OSD. So I am assuming that it is a third damper wire. Anyone else have this, or is this a fault?

My Viewsonic aperture grille PF790 also has the vertical line. Very normal to see 3 lines on aperture grille monitors.

Thanks, Rojas. I always thought aperture grill monitors only had two horizontal lines.

The manual for my Samsung 900nf A.G. monitor says if you can see a vertical line, to gently hit the side of the monitor with the palm of your hand. Gotta love a manual that tells you to hit it untill it's fixed=)

edit: found the quote

"It is possible that thin vertical black lines may appear. This effect is caused by grille element overlap which can occur in shipping. We suggest slapping the cabinet sides with an open palm and after the monitor is warm."

OMG!!!!!!! I just "slapped the cabinet side with an open palm" and the line disappeared!
LOL
This is the funniest thing I've encountered, I guess Philips should suggest "percussive maintenance" in their manuals too! :)
Thanks very much, Xes!

PS : Oooops... I've missed the word 'gently' from your post, I realize it now. :D
Well, anyhow...

Very happy now with this monitor at 1600x1200x100
