Vertex 3 when?

How bad was the Vertex 2 launch issues? (firmware). I got a Vertex 1 and had so many issue with firmware and bricks, I finally went to Intel. But now I want a Vertex 3 since Intel dropped the ball.

The sticky says buying on OCZ at lunch is basically asking to be a beta tester for them. Even Anand mentioned he hoped they had gotten their act together finally in the Intel review, since the Vertex 3 is so much faster.

It may not beat a drive that's yet to be released, but the real world benchmarks show the 510 leading the pack of currently available drives. It's competitive, dunno about 'dropping the ball'.

G2 sold plenty of drives despite being a little slower and higher priced than Sandforce 1xxx alternatives. I doubt the 510 will suffer too much.

If the 510 used the G3 controller it might make a difference, but the 510 uses something else. (same as the C400 IIRC from the artical)

The not being G3 is the ball drop as it appears to have been pushed back a good long way.

Vertex 2 is worst if not the same. At least they did not pull a fast one on Vertex users by silently switching fully populated channel drives with one that is half populated. I got an affected Vertex 2 80GB, but they refuse to own up on the performance lost citing that it is normal... Fastest for now, but a year later, if they pull the same trick again, you will end up with a lame SSD, if you get a replacement back, like mine...
