Vertex 3 sluggish

Anyone having issues with a Vertex 3 drive?
I just replaced an Intel 160gb G2 and yet the performance feels significantly slower with a 240gb Vertex 3.

Windows is 'sluggish' when the disk is being thrashed - the Intel lets Windows still feel fine.
I'm copying 40gb of Steam data from my Intel G2 to my new Vertex and installing Xonar DX drivers in the background is nearly up to 10 minutes.

I am using an X58 P6T board and I'm in AHCI mode.
So far, very un-impressed.

EDIT: Oh yeah, reading files from the G2, writing to the Vertex 3 - both SSD's obviously - Intel good at reading, Vertex good at writing.
Average speed for 69.7gb? 28mb/s :/
 
make sure you disable hot swap in the bios. my v3 240GB would freeze and hang up a lot before i did that. even after that, like you say, it still felt slower than my intels. i replaced my vertex 3 with 2x intel 320 160GB drives in raid0 and made my v3 as my steam drive.
