Verizon's 4G coverage spotty?

I live in a major metropolitan area that has 4G coverage, but I'm noticing that my 4G coverage is VERY spotty, it comes and goes every few minutes. I'm thinking of using the *#*#4636#*#* trick to turn off searching for 4G when I don't need it because it's draining my battery.

It's a brand new network that's not even close to being completely rolled out or having the bugs worked out. Give it a few months and they will have plenty money from screwing over their new customers to build it out.

In NYC i have seen very spotty VRZ coverage. Not many drops but really bad connection. Normally 1-2 bars at any given time. With TMO in the same areas I usually get full bars. VRZ has better penetration than TMO but its usually really slow. Same with ATT in the same areas, real slow or no bars at all.

good so it's not just me. I'm glad I'm grandfathered in so that when VZ is done bilking new customers I'll have unlimited access to the new network

I'm getting very good coverage in LA, poor building penetration though, and it drops back to 3G, current radio will lose signal in elevators, and I lose data completely until I toggle the radio on and off... About 70% of the time it'll automatically re sync, but not all of the time.

I leave my 4G antenna off; I've checked my house, my friend's house, and my workplace - no 4G signal at all in any of them.
