My daughter's phone broke, but she's not up for a new phone until April 2008. I have a $100 New Every 2 crediton my phone number. Can I order a new Razr from the VZW site under my number, then activate it with her phone number? If so, will this cause me to get charged the full price for the phone?

Any insight on this would be appriciated- thanks!

Yes, you can use your credit for her phone, and not be charged any extra. That's what I did (after being told by the in-store boneheads that it was impossible). Same in-store boneheads also told us the cheapest phone we could get for my daughter was $79.99... so I went to the site and got her one for $19.99.

You can, as long as you don't mind your upgrade being used up this time around.

Another option that should work is to order the new phone and activate it for yourself, then activate your current phone for your daughter (no charge from VZ for this).

Personally I wouldn't get her another Razr--unless she absolutely wants it. The VX8350 is, IMHO, a better phone. Also, there may be some promos on the KRZR right now as well.

I was going to wait on my phone- I have an e815 and it's all moded for my needs. I might get a Smart Phone this summer though, so I would be doing the reverse deal in a few months (order a new phone on my daugher's account, then activate it on mine).

Thanks for the responses.

Actually I think I'm going to get her an EnV...she'll like the text features :)

Yeah, I thought the E815 was a pretty solid phone. My wife had one... it died when it ended up in the wrong pocket in the swimming pool bag.

If you don't mind me taking your post a bit off topic, mind if I ask what mods you did to your e815?

The main one is I hacked the dialup networking feature that allows me to use the phone as a bluetooth modem. I can connect into Verizon's "business class" Internet for free from nearly anywhere. Speeds are around 100K. The rest are minor, but that's my favorite :)

Yes, but Verizon can't tell the difference between voice and data when you connect that way.

Umm, I thought we switched to megabyte pricing a few months ago? Actually, I'm pretty sure we did! You might not want to change your plan if you still have minutes-of-use Internet, because all the new plans will default to megabyte pricing.

That's the BREW phone I use--love it! :) Still waiting to see if I can get a free Voyager through concession accounts at work--probably won't happen for awhile though.

Yes you can. That's how I got my phone upgraded. I needed a new phone for college in September, but I wasn't due for an upgrade until October, but I would be gone by then. My mom had her New-Every-2 credit, though, so they used that upgrade, changed her number to the new phone, then swapped phone numbers between her old phone and "my" new phone. In October they used my credit to upgrade her phone.

This is a hack that gets around that. Since you work for Verizon, I'm not tellin' how it works :D
