Like the title says, Galaxy Nexus user looking to upgrade.

To be honest, if it wasn't for poor reception, I wouldn't be upgrading. Just wandering to the back of Costco in the Omaha area and my phone loses signal, while my wife's Droid Razr Max is pretty much fine. The comment always gets made that she should have brought her phone in so we can check a price or whatever, and with mine I have to go to the front of the store to get a bar to be able to do anything.

So that being said, I haven't seen any negative marks on the S4 with regard to poor reception. I am strongly considering ordering it through Amazon to save a $100 on Verizon's retail price of $250. Also giving some consideration to the Galaxy Note 2, as I have larger hands and sometimes the nexus feels a little small.

Is there anything else I should consider? The reception part is what I mainly want to get cleared up. I am simply hoping that the newer versions of Samsung phones don't have this problem. I don't really feel Motorola products myself, so I probably would prefer Samsung or similar. Would consider an Iphone, but I really am a google guy, and have nothing Apple at the moment. Any thoughts? Anything I should wait for?

The Galaxy Nexus has always been plagued with reception problems (I have one too) but the radios that have been coming out (or used to) did help somewhat.

If you can, I would personally wait closer to Christmas, because that is when the best deals are. (Thats just me)

Very likely can wait. I have been living with it for 2 years, so another few months won't bother me.

I just did some brief research, and it appears the Galaxy Note 3 is coming in the next 3 or so months. May end up going that route. High res features of the S4, but with a bigger profile, which would likely suit me quite well.

The Moto X comes out on Verizon next Friday. That's what I'll be upgrading to (also using a GNex right now).

The specs don't bother me much. I like the features the Moto X is offering, and I'm just so sick of waiting for Verizon to come out with something better to upgrade to.

If you're considering S4 on Verizon, why not buy it at Costco? They have it for $160 for the Verizon 16gb version and you get free activation and accessories bundle when purchased from Costco. You can try out the phone and if the reception sucks, you can return it to the store instead of having to deal with shipping.
