Verizon unlimited users, feel the 'network optimizations' yet?

honestly the marginal cost to them for not throttling when there isn't congestion, is probably next to if not nil. I think they're being very straightforward about this whole thing.

We'll see once school starts up since I'll be using my unlimited to its fullest when it comes to things I'm not allowed to download on the school internet. Since most SD TV shows run at around 300mb, and I run about 5-7 different shows one time. 1.5-2.1gb every week, 4 times a month so, oh wow, that's easily over 5gb.

I guess we'll see how badly I'll get throttled.

I just started a new billing cycle on the 9th and I've used about 1.5~ gb so far.. Last month I was around 10gb, average probably 8-15gb. I've used up to 20 but that's not real common. This month will be the one to show me though, I've been off-contract for 2+ years now.

Even if they throttle me I'm probably gonna stick my plan out, I have 900 min/Unlimited text/Unlimited Data and pay about 100$~ a month after taxes. Even if I switch to some new fangled plan I might save $10 a month and have a 2gb cap...

Yeah, our family is on an old school verizon plan (700 minutes+unlimited texting+some on unlimited data). Expensive, but worth the cost since no one else comes close with what we have. My gnex and my dad's S3 have been "off contract" for a long time

Yeah I know. On the last day of working at summer camp (2 weeks ago now I think), I dropped it and cracked the screen.

It is a steaming pile of shit. Battery goes down so fast, heats up like crazy, when I have a couple of apps open (Messanger for Facebook, Reddit), it will start to stutter.

When the iP6 comes out, I'll be getting my mom's iP5 so it should be alright. :thumbsup:

Verizon without AWS is a bad joke in most cities.

Yep, thats what I do. No internet on the subway, so I download all my music from spotify when I'm on wifi. Then I'm good without internet and without burning data. It really isn't that hard, just requires a little bit of planning.

Exactly, you get in the habit of conserving data use. I have music downloaded, all the kindle books I'm reading and I am set. It's funny, we have a 10GB plan and the person who uses the smallest amount of data is me 🙂

I still have a Gnex in use around here as a backup device, it is in pristine condition but the battery life is wretched.

Even I moved on from the GNex despite having no technical failures with it. I picked up a Note 3 for $200 and instantly realized it was worth every penny. Everything loads faster (even webpages in Chrome) and the battery life is 2x longer, easily, even with an extended battery on the GNex. 4G doesn't make it stupid hot and I can actually keep it on for navigation and when I'm just out and about instead of selectively turning it on - I feel like I'm getting full use of a smartphone now.

My phone was at 70% at 1am, I woke up at 8am to find my phone completely dead.

And I know the iP5 doesn't support AWS, it'll still be miles better.
