Verizon unlimited users, feel the 'network optimizations' yet?

so far so good. Have never been throttled yet. Throttling does not happen until Oct 1.

Although many are reporting unusual speed using youtube app. 720p doesn't work for me, but 360p does.

So I'm not a heavy user (~3-4GB a month) and I just tested at 15.8 Mbps down and 5.3 Mbps upload.

I don't see how you guys can use more than 5gb a month. I think the most I ever averaged in 6 months was 600mb. Getting rid of the unlimited reduced my bill dramatically. Now I'm on a 10gb family share line and find it is overkill.

Got Wifi?

My work blocks most stuff on wifi. I work 11-13 hours a day average. Use Google all access music all day at work. My Gym does not have wifi. Spend 2 hours a day there 4 times a week streaming Netflix during cardio & Music during work out. No tethering. Used 15 gigs last month.

If one is often not home, or at work that doesn't have WiFi I can easily see how it's possible to use so much data.

I have a 5GB plan, and it's definitely more than I need, but it includes tethering so I don't mind paying it. If I didn't have WiFi at work, I'd very easily go over my 5GB limit.

I was able to upgrade & renew my unlimited on contract last year during the so-called "glitch". My contract will be up 10-8-2015. My data usage "should not" be affected by this new policy, since I am under contract. We shall see.

Some people have to adapt by having things downloaded and not streaming.

If unlimited ever disappears or if these "optimizations" take effect, you will see impacts almost assuredly.

I have unlimited, but it's a rare month I break 5GB.

I used 13gb this month. Phone was definitely slow on the network. At one point I could not even pull up Google.

My work blocks everything, no access to WiFi. I stream a lot of music all day, posts, emails, YouTube during lunch.

Family share does not work for single people. You end up paying more and getting less. I am single on a m2m UDP and pay 81$/month with 450 free min, free night and weekend and unlimited text. The best I can get with the new Verizon plans is $100 and 3 gigs of data, unlimited talk and text. That is why I keep UDP even though I use 1-2 gig a month.

Yep, thats what I do. No internet on the subway, so I download all my music from spotify when I'm on wifi. Then I'm good without internet and without burning data. It really isn't that hard, just requires a little bit of planning.

I am a lucky guy I guess. I have open wifi here at my office (and at my customer site as well) and am on a group plan with a few other employees where we share a 20GB/month pool of data. I use the most out of my group and haven't exceeded 2.5GB yet. My IT guy actually asked me to use more data so he can justify keeping the 20GB blocks. We're on AT&T, not Verizon but still.

if you don't mind using adapters/cases/custom modding to get a bulkier phone, get a phone with microSDXC slot, get a microSDXC->SDXC adapter, and a 256GB SDXC card

:D

otherwise, the closest you'll get is 160GB (HTC One M8 unlocked @ 32GB + 128GB microSDXC = 160)

I just don't understand why they're gimping tablets with microSD slots instead of SD slots... in the teardowns, I see more free/available space within a tablet than in a phone...

Holy shit your going to be throttled for sure lol.
We'll see if vzw is true to their word about only doing it on towers with high traffic. Highly doubt towers here ever see much traffic.

Dude, I'm incredulous and impressed. Can you break down your usage for us? I'd seriously like to see how you achieved that level of data consumption. :D

Easy, it's my home internet. My other option is ATT dsl 6mbps/784kbps for $55/mo, plus $125 modem and $75 activation or some other bs fee. Seeing as how I get ~10mbps/2mbps with 1-2 bars at home for $25/mo, and I can take it anywhere, have no reason to get their shitty dsl service. Also don't have a desk job. Haven't connected to a wifi network besides my hotspot for months.

Believe me I'd be glad to pay $100/mo for a 50mbps+ landline if available. Had FIOS 85/35 at my condo in L.A. Time Warner wants $3-5k to run line to my house.
